From 1 January 2027, all owner-occupied homes in Queensland must have:

  • Photoelectric smoke alarms
  • Interconnected units – if one sounds, they all sound
  • Alarms installed in every bedroom, outside bedrooms (in hallways), and on every level of the home

Alarms must also meet the AS3786:2014 standard and be either hardwired or powered by a 10-year lithium battery.

You cannot legally sell a residential property in Queensland without compliant smoke alarms installed and functioning at the time of contract.

Yes. The legislation applies to all residential properties — including detached houses, townhouses, apartments, and studios.

  • Photoelectric alarms detect slow-smouldering fires early and are required under current legislation.

All alarms come with a 10-year manufacturer warranty. If you have any issues, contact us and we’ll handle the rest.
